Service Description

The World Is a Stage is a five-day theatre workshop designed to engage participants in the art of performance through a dynamic mix of disciplines. Working across both indoor spaces and select outdoor environments such as gardens and informal performance areas, participants will explore acting, movement, voice, mime, puppetry, stage combat, and more. This workshop encourages creative collaboration and physical storytelling, using the space around us as a vital part of the performance. Participants will work in groups to devise original scenes, integrating costume, props, and site-specific theatre techniques. The week culminates in a live showcase performance developed entirely by the participants, with an opportunity to document the process through filming. DAY 1: “The Ensemble & the Space” We kick things off by building trust, finding our voices, and getting comfortable in the space. Through games, movement, and improv, the group starts to connect and create together. DAY 2: “Objects Come to Life” From mime to puppetry, it’s all about turning ordinary objects into something magical. Expect a lot of laughter, hands-on making, and surprising moments of storytelling. DAY 3: “Sound, Song & Stage Combat” Things get louder (in the best way). Voices are stretched through song and character work, while stage combat adds action and excitement to the mix—all with safety and style. DAY 4: “Creation & Camera” Now it’s showtime prep. Groups shape their own scenes, blending everything they’ve learned into short performances. We bring in the camera to film, rehearse, and get creative with space. DAY 5: “Site Spectacle Showcase” The big finale! Performances unfold across different locations, captured on film and shared with a live audience. We wrap up with reflections, awards, and a whole lot of applause.
